A 19-year-old man has been arrested by police authorities in Athens, putting an end to his drug trafficking activities through postal mail.
The case was revealed when a suspicious package containing raw cannabis was found. Following a prosecutor’s warrant, authorities organized a controlled delivery operation, putting a shipping company’s box under surveillance. The young man was arrested in the act the moment he showed up to receive the package.
The investigation revealed that he had planned a second shipment with similar content, which reinforces the picture of organised activity.
In subsequent searches, both in his possession and at his home, quantities of raw and processed cannabis, a sum of money, a precision scale, a mobile phone, and items covered by weapons legislation, such as knives and iron bars, were found and seized.
According to authorities, the 19-year-old had been employed in the past for similar cases and was already under restraint at the time of his arrest.
The arrested man was taken to the relevant prosecuting authority and faces charges of drug and weapons offences.
