A 49-year-old driver was arrested at dawn in the area of Renti after an incidental chase.
Specifically, according to the ELAS, at about 5 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, a team of police officers, who were at the intersection of Athens Avenue and Stock Exchange Street in Kolonos, considered a vehicle suspicious and called the driver to stop for inspection. However, he disobeyed the officers’ orders and picked up speed, resulting in a chase.
The 49-year-old during the chase made dangerous maneuvers and at the height of Karaiskaki Street in Haidari, he made a U-turn and collided with the police car. The collision resulted in no injuries but only property damage. The 49-year-old then continued on his way and at the junction of Legaki and Mistra streets in Renti, he lost control of the car and crashed into railings.
The 49-year-old man was taken to Tzaneio Hospital with minor injuries and a case was filed against him for resisting arrest and dangerous driving.
