The three people injured in the accident at Araxos airport, when a ladder on which journalists were standing gave way, are being treated at the University Hospital of Patras.

The incident occurred during an event for the naming of a foreign airline aircraft at the civilian airport of Araxos, causing upheaval and moments of panic among the attendees.

More serious is the condition of a journalist, who sustained significant injuries and is being considered for surgery.

The other two injured, a photojournalist and a cameraman, have sustained minor injuries.

The fall also damaged technical equipment.

The event was attended by, among others, the German ambassador to Greece, Andreas Kindle, and the president of the Greek National Tourism Organisation, Angeliki Varela.

The ceremony marked the first flight of TUI’s Boeing 737-8 aircraft, which was named “Patra”, as part of an action to promote Western Greece.
