The 20-year-old man who has confessed to the murder of the 27-year-old in Asymatou Park in Agios Dimitrios has been taken to the prosecutor. During the preliminary questioning, he appeared remorseful, claiming that he did not intend to kill, and pointed to the place where he had hidden the knife.
Criminal charges were brought against him and he was given a deadline to apologize on Tuesday, April 28. According to his attorney, the defendant is in a highly charged mental state, continually stating that he did not want to take the 27-year-old’s life.
A 21-year-old boyfriend and two 20-year-old women are also charged in the same case, both facing charges of aiding and abetting a criminal. The three were taken into custody, given a deadline of Monday and released pending trial.
The lawyer for the two young women said they were in a bad mental state, with one of them having a relationship with the victim.
The 20-year-old’s mother said “it was her first love and no one expected things to turn out like this.”
From the very first moment, authorities ruled out the possibility of a robbery and focused on the victim’s immediate family. Testimonies and CCTV footage were crucial in solving the case.
According to the evidence, the victim was recorded Wednesday night around 9:02 p.m. when he parked his car and headed to the park.
The investigation revealed that the incident occurred following a heated argument between the two men, which was related to the victim’s ex-partner and her connection to the 20-year-old offender.
