The mortar shell was safely neutralized and destroyed by a controlled explosion this morning by walkers in the beautiful forest of Agios Charalambos in Evritania.
The oxidized ammunition was found in the area of “Bones” and specifically at the location “Tapsaki”.
This Monday morning, the experienced bomb disposal experts of the 695 ABP, who specialize in Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), proceeded to neutralize the projectile and then to its controlled detonation and destruction, at the old quarry in Veluhi, lamiareport reported.
In addition to the officers of the Ammunition Base Depot located in Avlaki Stylida, police officers from the Karpenisi Police Station, rescuers from the Karpenisi Ambulance Service and firefighters from the Fournas Fire Brigade took part in the operation.
