The arrest of five people who were allegedly active in drug trafficking on Strifi Hill was made by police officers of the Drug Intervention Unit of the Attica Directorate for the Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes, following a targeted operation in the Exarchia area.

Among those arrested are four foreigners aged 23 to 26 and a 35-year-old Greek woman, while a case was filed against them for setting up and participating in a gang that trafficked drugs, as well as for violence against officials and judicial persons.

As pointed out by the National Police, the investigation revealed that the gang members used two distinct methods of drug trafficking.

In the first case, a large number of people would enter the host apartment throughout the day, stay for a short period of time and leave after the purchase of drugs had been completed.

In the second case, the offenders were travelling together to Strufi Hill, taking counter-surveillance measures. According to the investigation, the 35-year-old domestic woman carried the drugs in a handbag and then proceeded to distribute them in the wider area.

During the police operation, quantities of cannabis, drug tablets, money and telephone devices were found and seized, while 47.6 grams of processed cannabis of the “chocolate” type were found buried in a pot in a communal area of a block of flats. At the same time, three precision electronic scales were found hidden in a fence near the point of trafficking on Strefi Hill.

The arrested persons were taken to the competent prosecutor.
