Donald Trump stated yesterday, Sunday, that the Strait of Hormuz will reopen after a peace agreement with Iran is signed on Friday, appearing to contradict his earlier statement, which referred to the immediate reopening of this waterway of strategic importance for global hydrocarbon trade.
“‘With the opening of the strait as soon as the agreement is signed on Friday, to allow time for mine clearance, oil will flow again on both sides for the region and the whole world,’ said the U.S. President via Truth Social, although he had previously spoken of opening the Strait and, at the same time, the “immediate” lifting of the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports.
“’This great agreement will bring peace and security to the entire region,’ the Republican President said in his latest message.
