The Prime Minister’s visit to the island included important announcements regarding the Dodecanese, particularly Rhodes and Kos, who is accompanied by Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis and Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni. Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni has also been in Rhodes for the past few days.
The Prime Minister is also accompanied by South Aegean Regional Governor George Hatzimarkos and Dodecanese MPs Yiannis Pappas, Manos Konsolas, Mika Iatridi, and Vasilis Ypsilantis.
During the visit, the Prime Minister gave the “green light” to the Regional Governor of the South Aegean for the redevelopment of the Old Hospital complex in Rhodes, paving the way for the advancement of a project that has been a concern for the local community for years.
At the same time, he announced the creation of a new hospital in Kos, a development of particular importance for strengthening healthcare infrastructure on the islands of the region and improving the health services provided to residents and visitors.
Of particular importance was the public statement by both the Prime Minister and the Minister of Health, ‘Adonis Georgiadis, who expressed their full confidence in South Aegean Regional Governor George Hatzimarkos. At the same time, they pledged that the government would support the immediate implementation of the plan to repurpose the Old Hospital, recognizing the Region’s decisive role in advancing the project.
The Prime Minister then visited the port of Rhodes, where, in the presence of the ministers, the Regional Governor, members of parliament, and the president of the Dodecanese Port Fund, Vasilis Vagianakis, he was briefed in detail on the plan to develop and upgrade the port.
During the presentation, particular emphasis was placed on the strategic upgrade of port infrastructure, with the aim of strengthening Rhodes’ role in development and tourism, improving services provided to passengers, and creating modern infrastructure that will meet the island’s growing needs.
The Prime Minister’s visit to Rhodes signals a commitment to accelerating major initiatives in the areas of health, infrastructure, and development through projects expected to have a decisive impact on the future of the Dodecanese in the coming years.
In a short while, the Prime Minister will chair a meeting with representatives of tourism organizations to be held at the offices of the South Aegean Region, while at noon he will meet with citizens at a central café in Rhodes to discuss issues of concern to them and, at the same time, inform them about the government’s planning regarding a series ofthat affect them.
Afterward, accompanied by Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni, he will visit the archaeological site “Pervola” in the Medieval City of Rhodes, one of the island’s most iconic sites.
