The competent authorities have made two arrests for negligent fires in Domokos and Salamina. As part of the investigations and checks carried out by the investigative services of the Fire Department to investigate the causes of fires during the fire season, the competent authorities arrested a 34-year-old man for the fire in Domokos and a 61-year-old man for the fire in Salamina.
In the first case, as reported by the fire department, a fire broke out at approximately 12:20 p.m.m. in the area of Mantasia of the Municipal Community of Domokos, in the Municipality of Domokos, Fthiotida. According to the investigation, a native, aged 34 years, during agricultural work collecting clover, caused an ignition in the vegetation by contact between a metallic part of agricultural machinery and a stone. The fire broke out within a field, burning an area of about three acres, and extended to the boundaries of an adjacent woodland. For the incident, the culprit was arrested in the framework of the spontaneous procedure by investigating officers of the Lamia Fire Service and the Domokos Fire Brigade.
In the second case, a fire occurred at approximately 12:27 p.m.pm in the area of Ampelakia Salamina. As known by the Fire Department, according to the investigation, a resident, aged 61 years, caused the fire during hot work using an electric metal cutting wheel, without taking the required fire safety measures. The fire burned an area of approximately six acres. For the incident, the culprit was arrested under the spontaneous procedure by officers of the D.A.E.E., in cooperation with the Piraeus Investigation Department, while an administrative fine of 4,021.87 euros was imposed.
Note that between January 1 and June 7, 2026, a total of 402 administrative fines have been imposed, totaling 383.397.05 euros, while 71 arrests have been made under the spontaneous procedure.
