Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis focused on the proposed changes for the revision of the Constitution, analyzing the government’s proposals. In his weekly statement, he outlined the importance of these institutional changes, noting that “they may seem bold to some. But I believe they are necessary for a country that wants to look confidently to the future.”
At the same time, the Prime Minister gave particular weight to the recent decision of the European Commission to remove Greece from the “macroeconomic imbalances” status. This development marks the definitive closure of a painful 16-year cycle, which had begun with the outbreak of the debt crisis. Referring to this turning of the page for the country’s international image, he stressed that “For the first time in many years, Greece is not being discussed in Europe as part of the problem, but as an example of progress and stability.”
At the same time, the government’s work is expanding in key areas of everyday life and the economy, with the Prime Minister singling out the adoption of the new Land Planning and Urban Planning Code, as well as the further expansion of the digital job card in the market. In the field of social protection of citizens, the increase of the confiscation threshold, which now amounts to 1,600 euros, was highlighted. Finally, the review concluded with a special reference to defence issues, welcoming the integration of the first 72 female volunteers into the Armed Forces
