With 12,024 book readings, 638 students, 84 school classes and the participation of sixteen of the seventeen primary schools in the area, the 7th Literacy Program “Bookworms 2026” of the libraries of the municipality of Kalamaria in Thessaloniki was completed, recording another year of impressive results.
For the seventh consecutive year, “Bookworms” brings students closer to books, cultivating imagination, creativity and critical thinking and strengthening children’s relationship with knowledge.
The “Bookworms” is not a reading competition, but an innovative reading program that was born in Kalamaria and evolved into an educational program that, under the supervision of the municipality’s librarians, is now being implemented in twelve municipalities across the country.
The results of this year’s event reflect the dynamics of the institution, recording a total of 12,024 book readings over a period of four months with the participation of hundreds of students from almost all primary schools in Kalamaria.
