European prosecutors have charged the 14 people arrested for illegal subsidies from OPEKEPE in Kozani and Agrinio with felony offences related to the activities of a criminal organisation.
According to the case file, the defendants allegedly defrauded the Community agricultural payments body for the period 2019-2024, with the estimated damage to the EU and the state estimated at €2.5 million.
The prosecution was brought for, on a case-by-case basis, offences of directing, forming, joining a criminal organisation, fraud against the financial interests of the European Union of more than €120,000 and money laundering.
The accused were brought to the Evelpidon courts before the investigating judge who will give them a deadline for their pleas.
