Today, Thursday 4 June 2026, a significant moment for the Greek Army and Armed Forces took place as the first women were presented in Lamia, at the KEFP.

As reported by lamiareport.gr, the women who arrived in Lamia to serve as volunteers in the army were 72, and they seem confident about this new step.

It is noted that the motivations for the women who decided to enlist are important such as:

  • recognition of service time as prior service,
  • privileged access to competitions of the ASEP,
  • priority recruitment of graduates as civilian staff (nurses, nursery nurses, administrative staff, etc.),
  • access to benefits for members of the armed forces (military hospitals, clubs, etc.)

In fact, in the context of today’s day, the Chief of the General Staff, Georgios Kostidis, was also present at the KEFP Lamia.

It is reported that the swearing-in ceremony of women volunteers is to take place on Friday, June 26 and according to information from LamiaReport.gr, the Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias and the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will probably be there.

@lamiareport.gr Today in Lamia a small but important page of history was written! The first 72 women passed the gate of the Greek Army, taking their first step with determination, emotion and pride. In the eyes of their parents, in their own words, in the picture of the ranking, a new era for the Armed Forces is reflected. #lr #army #greekarmy #armywomen #news ♬ original sound – LamiaReport.gr
