A raft with 38 foreigners on board was spotted in the sea area 22 nautical miles southwest of Gavdos.

She was located by a Frontex air force aircraft, while a Coast Guard vessel, under the coordination of the Integrated Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (ESRC), proceeded with the recovery and safe rescue of the occupants.

The 38 foreigners are being transported to the port of Paleochora, Chania, where the procedures will be followed by the competent authorities.
