The great actor Angelos Antonopoulos passed away at the age of 94, leaving behind a great legacy in Greek theatre, cinema and television.
The funeral service was held today in Karystos, Evia, a place he loved very much and where he chose to spend the last years of his life. Relatives, friends and people who knew him came to the Church of St. Athanasius to pay their last respects.
Angelos Antonopoulos was one of the most emblematic figures of Greek acting. A graduate of the Drama School of the Karolos Koun Art Theatre, he pursued a great career in the theatre, working with leading creators and leading actors of his time.
In cinema, he participated in more than 30 films, collaborating with important directors such as Yannis Dalianidis, Dinos Dimopoulos and Vassilis Georgiadis.
His presence on television was also notable, with iconic roles in series such as Unknown War, The Pantheon, Madame Susou, Rainbow and Bridal Rehearsal.
In addition to acting, he has also dabbled in writing, publishing The Moon Passengers and the poetry collection Unguarded Crossing.
His death marks the end of a long journey in Greek culture, with his work and contribution remaining alive in the memories of audiences and people of the theatre.
