Dimitris Ungarezos made his own statement on the end of “Breakfast@Star” and the debate that has opened up around the content of the show through the Buongiorno show.
The presenter claimed that the show’s suspension is linked to the restructuring of the programme and cost-cutting by Star Channel.
“Here there is, due to budget cuts, a clear cut from Star. He took his axe and cut a show because he consolidated a zone,” he said.
He also commented on the views expressed on social media that Breakfast@Star was the only purely entertainment-oriented show in the morning zone.
“Just because you’re not doing current affairs doesn’t necessarily mean you’re doing entertainment or something alternative and fun,”
Dimitris Ungarezos also noted that during its run, the show changed direction several times.
“There were times when the show completely changed course and went into hard gossip, hard gossip,” he said, expressing the view that the content did not remain firmly entertainment-oriented.
His comments come at a time when discussions continue about changes to the morning TV zone and the future of entertainment shows on Greek television.
