Special operational action was carried out by police officers of the Sub-Division for the Protection of Minors in the wider area of Aristotelous Square, with the aim of preventing juvenile delinquency and deterring underage drinking.

During the operation, checks were carried out on 72 underage persons, as well as in seven shops of sanitary interest in the centre of Thessaloniki.

According to the Greek police statement, the main purpose of the checks was to collect information and map areas where phenomena of juvenile delinquency are observed, as well as to prevent the consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors.

The data collected is used to design targeted interventions in areas where there is an increased concentration of minors or incidents of delinquent behaviour.

The Police notes that similar actions will continue in the coming period, as part of the effort to prevent and tackle juvenile crime and strengthen the sense of security in public spaces.
