A new RealPolls poll conducted on behalf of Protagon shows a narrow lead for New Democracy.
According to the analysis of the survey, the emergence of the new political formations of Maria Karystianou and Alexis Tsipras seems to strengthen the rallying of the “blue” electoral base, especially after the recent ND congress.
The survey was conducted nationwide from 23 to 25 May among a sample of 1,667 citizens. In the voting intention, New Democracy shows a significant increase, reaching 27.5%, compared to 24.6% recorded in April, an increase of almost three points.
This boost is mainly attributed to a significant reduction in the number of undecided voters, who were reduced from 18% to 9%. A part of them were directed towards the new parties, while the traditional core of the New Democracy party was also mobilised. The new party of Alexis Tsipras is in second place in the voting intention with 14.1%, followed by Maria Karystianou’s “Hope for Democracy” with 11.4%.
The biggest losses
- Pλεύsi Eleftherias shows a noticeable drop as it is down from 6.1% in April to 3.7%. Similarly, in the election result estimate it declines from 10.7% to 4.5%, with a significant part of its voters heading towards the new political parties.
- PASOK-Minima Aliasi records a loss of 1.8 points in its vote intention, falling from 10.4% to 8.6%. In the election result forecast, the decline is even greater, losing 5.7 points, with Tsipras’ party absorbing voters from the centre-left.
- SYRIZA and MPA25 show dramatic shrinkage, as the momentum of the left-wing opposition seems to be almost entirely transferred to Alexis Tsipras’ new project. SYRIZA retreats from 3.8% to 1.2%, while MPA25 falls from 3.4% to 1.5%.
In the election result estimate, New Democracy scores 29.1%, higher than in the European elections (28.31%), but lower than in April, when it was recorded at 30.6%. The difference is mainly attributed to a decrease in the number of undecided voters.
Alexis Tsipras’ party is in second place with 16.1%, while Maria Karystianou’s party is third with 13.1%. PASOK-KINAL is in fourth place with 9.4%, losing its double-digit share. The KKE follows with 7.4%, the Hellenic Solution with 5.6%, the Eleftherias Party with 4.5% and the Voice of Reason with 4.1%.
