The competent authorities have identified and rescued about 50 foreigners in the sea area 41 nautical miles south of Ierapetra, under the coordination of the Single Coordination Centre for Search and Rescue (CSRRC).
According to the Coast Guard, a dinghy with foreigners on board was spotted by a Frontex air force aircraft in the sea area south of Crete.
A patrol boat of the Coast Guard immediately went to the area, while a ship assisted in the recovery process. The approximately 50 foreigners were safely recovered and transported to the port of Ierapetra.
