A 37-year-old foreigner of Palestinian origin, accused of being a member of the terrorist organization Hamas, as well as of receiving training, traveling and planning terrorist acts, was arrested today in Crete in a joint operation by the National Intelligence Service (NIS) and the Directorate for the Prevention of Special Crimes of Violence (D.A.E.E.B.).
According to the authorities’ evidence so far, the 37-year-old is allegedly linked to people recently arrested in Cyprus for terrorism cases.
As it became known from the EL.AS. during searches carried out at residences in Crete and Athens, mobile phone devices, a laptop computer, data storage media, bank cards and laboratory equipment, among other things, were found and seized.
The 37-year-old man is expected to be brought before the relevant prosecutor, while the authorities’ investigations to fully investigate the case are ongoing.
