A police operation by the Sub-Directorate for the Fight against Organized Crime of Northern Greece is underway since this morning in the OPEKEPE case.
According to police sources, the operation concerns the dismantling of a criminal organization, whose members are involved in a case of fraud against the financial interests of the European Union, as well as in a false declaration.
So far 17 people have been arrested in the areas of Thessaloniki, Kilkis, Serres and Athens, while the estimated illegal financial gain exceeds 4.5 million euros.
After the completion of the operation, official announcements are expected to be made by the authorities.
