The price of a barrel of West Texas Intermediate (WTI), a US benchmark crude variety, was down more than 5% in Tokyo trading a short while ago, despite news that the US armed forces had launched new airstrikes in southern Iran.
Around 03:30 (GMT), the price of WTI was down 5.46% at $91.33 a barrel, shortly after the US military announcement.
