At the hospital “C. Gennimatas” hospital, the 53-year-old woman who was shot by her husband at their home in Cholargos, before he ended his life.
It all started last Monday night (25.6.26) when, under unknown circumstances, the man shot his wife in the landing of their home in Holargos. The woman fell to the floor bleeding from the gunshot and started calling for help. The 57-year-old man then went up to his third-floor apartment and ended his life with a bullet to the head.
Officers who arrived on the scene proceeded to tourniquet the woman’s leg and were able to stop the bleeding. The woman was then taken to C. Gennimatas” where she was treated out of danger.
Police officers found the 57-year-old man dead inside the apartment, while the weapon used was found next to him. According to reports, the couple were involved in shooting and owned legal firearms.
Residents in the area described scenes of panic after the shooting. A neighbour said, “at about 11:00am I heard a bang and then shouts of ‘help – help’, followed by a second shot.”
Neighbours also said the couple had lived in the area for about 25 years and had not given rights or cause for tension, but relatives said that lately the man had often threatened his wife.
According to the same reports, the 57-year-old man was a retired pilot and the 53-year-old woman worked as a psychologist at the Gennimatas Hospital.
