The tense incident between Vangelis Marinakis and Grigoris Dimitriadis, shortly before the start of the Euroleague Final 4 final, was captured by Telekom Center security cameras.
As sport-fm had revealed on Sunday night, the two men can be seen in the relevant video having a heated conversation, with the president of Olympiacos FC allegedly moving against Grigoris Dimitriadis with a gesture of physical contact.
The incident, which was the subject of intense media attention before the Euroleague grand final between Olympiacos and Real Madrid, prompted the intervention of the prosecutor, who ordered an investigation and an examination of the available visual material.
According to the instructions to the relevant services of the Hellenic Police, all videos related to the incident – both from the stadium’s security system and from other possible sources – were requested to be checked in order to determine whether any self-incriminating offence was committed during the Final Four final between Olympiacos and Real Madrid.
Prosecutor Mr. Koreas instructed the Department of Sports Violence to complete the relevant investigation and, if there are indications of the commission of offences prosecuted ex officio, to form a case file and initiate the prescribed criminal proceedings.
Otherwise, if acts requiring a criminal complaint by a person involved are found, the case will not proceed further unless one of the parties chooses to take the case to court by filing a complaint.
