In the conference room of the Larissa Court of Appeal of the Larissa Court of Appeal, where the trial for the Tempi railway tragedy will continue next Wednesday, May 27, 2026, the improvement works were completed and from 283.75 sq.m. which was at the opening session of the trial on 23 March 2026, was increased to 452 sq. m, as well as the number of seats increased by 100.

In particular, the Ministry of Justice has made interventions in the “Gaiopolis” hall of the conference centre of the University of Thessaly for the smooth conduct of the Tempi trial, following a request from the Plenary of the Presidents of the Greek Bar Associations. At the same time, the director of the Court of Appeal of Larissa, President of the Court of Appeal Maria Lianou issued a supplementary – corrective act which she sent to the Plenary of the Presidents of the Bar Associations and the local Bar Associations.

Specifically, Ms. Lianou’s corrective act states: “Supplementary – Corrective Act for the conference room for the hearing of the case of the accident of Tempi”, where for the hearing of the case by the Three-Member Court of Appeal of Larissa, the “lecture hall of the Conference Center of the University of Thessaly in the complex “GAIOPOLIS” (formerly T.E.I. of Larissa), with an area of 452.01 square meters, is defined, where the seat of the Court, the lawyers’ chambers and the defendants’ seats etc. will be located. As an additional conference room (hearing room) for the hearing of the above case, the main reception area of the above Conference Centre, on the right side of the entrance, with an area of 109.57 m², where audience seats with monitors are installed”.
