The project Extended East Europe Electric RouteBlueRoute 4E represents an important milestone for the expansion of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Greece and Romania, as it supports European objectives regarding the decarbonisation of the transport sector and the development of electromobility along corridorsTENT.

The PPC blueand PPC blueRomania will significantly expand its electric vehicle charging infrastructure (EV) in Greece and Romania, using European funds to improve the travel and transport experience on the main European routes. More specifically, they will receive up to €3.42 million in funding from the European Union under the CEFAlternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility, with the aim of developing 106 rapid and ultra-fast charging points, at 34 strategic locations in the two countries. The project includes the installation of 98 fast charging points with a minimum capacity of 150kW, dedicated to light vehicles (LDV), as well as 8 fast-charging points with a minimum power of 350 kW, dedicated to heavy vehicles (HDV).

Director General of Electrification of PPC Group, Miltiadis Babilis said “Building on the successful implementation of the CEF-funded project “East Europe Electric Route (BlueRoute 3E)”, PPC blue is moving to the next stage of its strategy with the launch of the BlueRoute 4E project in Greece and Romania, accelerating the transition to electrification and connecting Eastern Europe with the European alternative fuel infrastructure network. As a natural continuation of the development of charging infrastructure, BlueRoute 4E includes the installation of strategically located high-power charging stations for light-duty (LDV) and heavy-duty (HDV) vehicles. Through the close cooperation between Greece and Romania, PPC Group confirms its commitment to enhance green mobility and support the European transition towards a climate-neutral transport system.”

The PPC CEO blue Romania, Andreea-Dana Popescu, said “BlueRoute 4E is the next natural step in our strategy to accelerate the development of charging infrastructure. The implementation of the project involves complex civil works, installation of the charging stations and their connection to the electricity grids, but our vision goes beyond the technical aspect: we are creating a strong, reliable and future sustainable network that meets the growing expectations of our customers. Through this project, we seek to offer a simple, fast and barrier-free charging experience through strategically placed high-power stations, so that the transition to modern, quiet and non-polluting road transport becomes an affordable reality for more and more users.”

The stations will be strategically located near road networks TENT, at a maximum distance of 3km from the route exits, ensuring permanent access (24/7), interoperability, compliance with AFIRand facilities dedicated to people with reduced mobility for an accessible and barrier-free user experience.

The project funding is part of a wider European strategy for the development of sustainable transport, the rapid upgrade of charging infrastructure, and the production and distribution of renewable and low-carbon fuels.

In response to its commitment to sustainable development and environmental protection, the PPC has recognized its role in the penetration and development of electrification in the country. Under the PPC blue brand, PPC offers integrated services making electromobility affordable and accessible to all through its network of chargers, with a total of more than 4,000 charging points in Greece and Romania. PPCblue’s goal to become the most important provider of electromobility services in Southeastern Europe, through significant investments in the development, management and operation of the most extensive electric vehicle charging network and the provision of innovative services, outlines PPC Group’s ambitious plan.
