The EFKA is entering a new digital era, with the aim of reducing bureaucracy, improving service to citizens and speeding up the award of pensions. By the end of summer, the new Integrated Information System (IIS) of the e-EFKA is expected to be ready, which was presented today at a central hotel in Thessaloniki, as part of an informative event on the digital transformation of the institution.
A “project of strategic importance” was mentioned by the Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security, Anna Efthymiou, welcoming the event. As she said, “very functional procedures at EFKA, such as insurance life, contributions, benefits and control mechanisms are being digitized,” which means “more direct service to the citizen, transparency, and the elimination of bureaucracy.”
“This has a direct effect on speeding up the delivery of pensions, better internal functioning of the organisation, greater efficiency of control mechanisms, greater effectiveness and collectability. All these constitute a modern era of EFKA for the benefit of every insured person, every employee, every pensioner,” the Deputy Minister added.
For his part, the governor of EFKA, Alexandros Varveris, elaborated on the digital capabilities of the system and the benefits for citizens, businesses and professionals, saying: “A new era is beginning for the organisation and for social security. Our goal is the efficient operation of the organization, proper service to the citizen, fairness and transparency.”
“What is new is the effort that is being made to ensure that the insured are largely served remotely and efficiently, fairly and transparently, without necessarily having to visit the local administration. All this effort is being completed at the end of the summer,” Varveris stressed.
As to whether the new system will help in the speedy distribution of pensions, the NFKA governor noted that “a huge effort has already been made in the speedy and efficient distribution of pensions. We hope that at the end of this process, i.e. the creation of the Integrated Information System in combination with the digitalisation of the insurance life, will greatly reduce the waiting time for pension claims, both for main and supplementary pensions.”
The event was welcomed, among others, by the Deputy Minister of Interior, responsible for Macedonia – Thrace, Kostas Gioulekas, who congratulated the public administration officials for the work they do. “We can give you the tools,” Gioulekas said.
The project, presented and funded by the Recovery and Resilience Fund, under the “Greece 2.0” programme, aims at the radical digital transformation of the e-EFKA, with the aim of creating a single, modern and interoperable information environment for the management of social security in Greece.
The main objectives of the project include: the implementation of an integrated digital transformation programme, which will create the conditions for a significant improvement in the performance of the Institution, the better service of the transacting parties, the acceleration of critical processes of E-EFKA (e.g. pension awarding).
The project aims to implement a comprehensive digital transformation programme, which will create the conditions for a significant improvement in the performance of the Institution, the better service of the transacting parties, the acceleration of critical processes of E-EFKA (e.g. pension awarding).
The creation of a single, modern and scalable OSS, which will support the entire business function (registers, contributions, benefits, pensions, insurance history, financial management, human resources management, case management, audit work) and host the single e-EFKA business database. Improving the quality, accuracy and reliability of insurance data and its use in administrative information and adopting flexible infrastructures for the rapid modification and introduction of new business rules (e.g. pension foundation control).
