Dimitris Kontopoulos took to the airwaves of the “Buongiorno” show today (Monday) to talk about Eurovision 2026 and the victory of Dara from Bulgaria with his own song, “Bangaranga”.

“There were some songs that had tremendous momentum from the moment they came out. I mean there are songs that have been out since January, December I think. We came out in March, so already the other songs have got a hype in general in the Eurovision world, which you know it’s blowing, blowing, blowing. And then the bookmakers come in, as you know, and up it.

But this year what I’ve realised is that the betting may eventually find the seven, something like that. In the high numbers there’s usually a mix-up and that’s probably because they stopped showing the rehearsals. So the bets stay high and then they don’t understand what’s going on,” Dimitris Kontopoulos initially said.

Dimitris Kontopoulos then said, “Dara was amazing. From there and I think from the first rehearsal she showed the world what she is and what she can do. So she played with the cameras well. She’s a nice girl, she’s got a nice voice, a good voice, she dances and sings well and I think what we showed was also an excellent thing for television.”

He said he rejected the idea of representing Greece next year, as he said what ERT is doing is right and new faces should be brought up.
