In an Instagram video, Akilas wanted to thank the world for their love and support, following his 10th place finish in the Eurovision final yesterday.
“Well it’s seven o’clock in the morning, I’m in Vienna, we leave in an hour. I haven’t slept a minute of course because I’m tense. What I experienced was magical. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to experience it all. I am eternally grateful for the love I received these five months. It has been a firework. I went to other countries while finishing my first album, setting up the tour that’s coming up this summer, interviews. Chaos… It’s been magical,” he notes in the video.
“Although the result caused him distress, the singer was particularly upbeat about the messages of love sent to him, which tempered his disappointment. He went on to say: “Of course, I couldn’t sleep because I had a weight on my chest because I was a little sad, mostly because I didn’t want to upset you guys. I didn’t want to disappoint anyone. I couldn’t open my phone after the results, I didn’t know what I was going to see, what I was going to see. Of course, I received so many messages of love and I thank you for that because they sweetened my heart. The whole team worked very hard on this project, we really gave our heart and soul and blood. I still can’t believe it’s over. Of course, nothing’s over. Now the good stuff begins. Thanks for everything. Thank you to Greece, thank you to you. Thank you for being here. Thank you for what you have made me live,” the singer concludes, obviously moved.
