The Coast Guard – Hellenic Coast Guard recorded increased migratory pressures at the country’s maritime borders in April 2026.
According to data from the Directorate of Maritime Border Security and Protection, a total of 31 incidents of illegal entry of foreigners into Greece and nine incidents of illegal exit to other countries of the European Union through the Greek territory were recorded by the services of the Coast Guard – Greek Coast Guard in April 2026.
EU via Greece – 15 arrests of foreigners and one arrest of a trafficker were recorded.
According to the same data, in the cases of irregular exit, one vehicle was seized and two forged travel documents were found. No boat seizures were recorded during the month.
As pointed out by the Directorate of Security and Maritime Border Protection of the Coast Guard, the statistics refer exclusively to incidents that were dealt with by the local port authorities.
Meanwhile, a dinghy with 31 foreigners was spotted today in the sea area 42 nautical miles south of Gavdos, following a surveillance operation conducted by a Frontex air vehicle.
A floating vessel of the Coast Guard – Greek Coast Guard rushed to the area and proceeded to collect the foreigners who were safely transported to the port of Paleochora, Chania.
