Many unanswered questions have been raised by the fall of two 17-year-old schoolgirls from the roof of a six-storey block of flats in Heliopolis.

The incident, which appears to have been planned, has shocked public opinion and brings back to the forefront the mental health issues of teenagers and the need for prevention, support and protection.

One 17-year-old girl dead, another girl in critical condition in the emergency room

The two girls were transported by ambulance of the ambulance service to the hospital “Asclepion Voulas”. Despite the efforts of the doctors, one of the two ended up dead. The second one, a multi-injured, was intubated and it was decided to transfer her to the “KAT” hospital for surgery. Her health condition remains critical.

Notes and diaries

.
The girl who lost her life had left a handwritten note in her backpack, mentioning the anxiety about her A-levels and the depression she was feeling. At the second woman’s home, officers found a diary with similar references to anxiety, depression and frustration about the future.

Both were born in 2009, both were in second grade, were friends and good students. One of them had lost her father, which had affected her psychologically.

The moment of the fall

.
The tragic incident happened yesterday Tuesday (12/5), around 12 noon. The two girls went up to the roof of the apartment building after taking the keys from the manager earlier. It appears they locked the rooftop door, trying to isolate themselves before taking the fatal step.

Police authorities are investigating what happened on the roof before the fatal plunge, what was said between them, collecting witness statements and evidence from family and friends.
