Authorities are continuing their search in Loudia for the body of a 54-year-old man who was allegedly murdered and abandoned in the waters of the river. Two men, aged 43 and 44, were arrested in the case, who appear to have confessed their involvement in the crime and are expected to be brought before the relevant prosecutor.
According to evidence gathered by officers of the Organized Crime Division (OCID), drug-related disputes appear to be behind the bloody incident. Reports indicate that two arrested men and the victim had gone to a residence in the area of Kymina in Thessaloniki at midnight yesterday, where they believed there were hidden drugs. When they found that the substances were missing, tension between them prevailed.
According to the version being examined by the authorities, one of the two arrested men took a gun belonging to the third of the group and shot the 54-year-old in the head, believing that he had been deceived about the existence of the drugs. The persons involved then apparently tied the victim up with bricks, loaded him into the trunk of a car and dumped the lifeless body in the Loudia River. Despite the investigations of the Hellenic Police with the assistance of the EMAK so far the body has not been found.
An important development in the course of the investigation was the testimony of a citizen, which helped the authorities to unravel the tangle of the case.
