The detection and seizure of a large quantity of cocaine, weighing 530 grams, as well as the arrest of a 22 year old resident of Piraeus, were carried out by officers of the Security Bureau of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus after a chase.According to the estimates of the port authorities, the expected financial benefit from the sale of the quantity of drugs ranges from 26,500 to 53,000 euros. The operation was carried out by members of the Security Office and the Regional Narcotics Investigation Team (P.O.DI.N.) of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus, following the exploitation of information on drug trafficking in the wider Piraeus area.
According to the Coast Guard, port officers spotted the 22-year-old man driving a private car. vehicle, however, as soon as he noticed the presence of the coast guard officers , he refused to comply with the instructions for control and attempted to escape, increasing speed.
During the escape attempt, he caused property damage to coast guard service vehicles and a parked private car.
In the end, officers from the Security Bureau and the P.O.D.I.N. were able to immobilize the vehicle and handcuff the 22-year-old. During the pursuit, the arrestee allegedly discarded a nylon bag, inside of which a paper box containing a quantity of cocaine totaling 530 grams of cocaine was found.
The Central Port Authority of Piraeus, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, proceeded to seize the quantity of cocaine, which will be sent to the General State Laboratory, as well as the I.The investigation will be carried out at the Criminal Investigation Department.
