There are a total of six reports related to UFO sightings in Greece within the records released by the US War Department, with three of them accompanied by a video.

In essence, this is not about confirming or not confirming the existence of extraterrestrial life, but about incidents where civilians or members of the US Armed Forces saw, observed, spotted, unexplained phenomena on the horizon or came into contact with unidentified flying objects that cannot be explained on the basis of the available evidence.

The collection is hosted at WAR.GOV/UFO, and it is noted that other archives will follow “on a rolling basis”. It is noted that it includes records up to 80 years old. The documents were posted as part of the Trump administration’s initiative for greater transparency around records that for years have remained restricted.

The first batch includes 162 files. Among them are federal agency documents, old diplomatic cables and transcripts from NASA manned missions. Prominent among these for the Greek audience are reports of sightings from Greece, either inland or in the Aegean.

According to the data released, two of the reports related to Greece that have been recorded on video are from late October 2023, while the third is from January 2024.

The first, on October 27, refers to a small, seemingly circular object spotted moving very low over the sea and reportedly making sharp maneuvers before being lost to surveillance.
