The Greek police made two arrests as part of an operation by the Cybercrime Directorate in a case of Internet pornography of minors, while a case was also filed against three other people.
The operation, codenamed “Broken chain”, was conducted from 5 to 7 May 2026, following months of digital research and analysis of electronic data. According to police, internet users were identified who had accessed and shared files containing sexual abuse material of minors under the age of 15.
The investigation and cooperation with internet and telecommunications service providers identified those involved and searches were carried out at homes.
During the searches, a total of 43 hard drives, 11 USB storage devices and two laptops were seized. According to police, on-site digital examinations of material possessed by two of the accused identified numerous files containing material of sexual abuse of minors and their arrest followed.
The digital evidence will be further examined by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, while the two arrested persons were taken to the competent prosecuting authority and referred for main interrogation.
