Tension occurred on Wednesday afternoon at Volos Town Hall, during a conference organized by the Student Association of the Department of Agriculture, Plant Production and Rural Environment of the University of Thessaly, entitled “Smart Agriculture and Innovation: The New Era in the Agricultural Sector”. The event was attended by students, representatives of local government and citizens.
Some time after the event began, a group of people allegedly belonging to student collectives and the anti-authoritarian movement entered the venue, causing a temporary disruption of the proceedings. The attendees proceeded to protest slogans against the mayor of Volos Achilleas Beos and the rector of the University of Thessaly, Haralambos Billinis, expressing objections to issues related to the operation of the institution and its cooperation with the municipal authority.
Reportedly, slogans were also spray-painted on a part of the building during the intervention, causing a disturbance at the venue.
