Stavros Tsochos was a footballer and when he retired, he went into sports journalism.
He started his football career in 1954 with Hyperochi Neapolis of Athens. In 1956, the team’s most distinguished player for two years, Stavros Tsochos, along with his teammate Mimi Stefanakos, joined Olympiacos, where he belonged until 1961.
In between, he played only a few games for Proodeftiki in the 1958-59 season (2 appearances in the Piraeus League) on loan from Olympiakos and then played for Fotiras, with whose shirt he ended his football career in the early 60s, having played in the championship of the First National League.
He worked as a sports editor at the newspaper Tagi and then worked at Acropolis, Nea (for 20 years), Light of Sports and the magazines Proto and Protaθληma. He first appeared on television in 1968.
He presented sports programmes and broadcasted matches in Greece and abroad, while he also worked for the television channels ERT, MEGA and ANT1.
