From its first days of operation, the ntantades.gov.gr platform for the “Neighbourhood Nannies” programme has recorded a very high response, according to the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family, confirming the strong interest of citizens and prospective carers for an organised, safe and flexible solution for the care of infants and young children.
According to the latest available data, by the morning of Tuesday 5 May, the platform had recorded 48,135 visits, 8,534 temporary application saves and 125 final submissions. At the same time, 1,303 stakeholders had completed the online training through howto.gov.gr.
Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, Domna Michailidou, said, “The response to the “Neighbourhood Nannies” has been impressive from the very first days of the platform’s operation. Over 48,000 visits show that the programme is responding to a real, everyday need of parents. We support the mother and the family in practice, where the greatest stress begins: who will safely care for the child when the parent is working, looking for a job or studying. I would like to thank the Hellenic Red Cross for its contribution to the programme and for the free first aid seminars for infants and children, which started yesterday, 4 May. The safety of children is our first priority. That’s why we are building a program with rules, requirements, training and accountability.”
Reminder that the Neighbourhood Babysitters program is for families with infants and toddlers aged 2 months to 2.5 years old. Not only professionals, but also persons from the family’s familiar environment, such as grandparents, can be registered in the register of carers, provided they meet the prescribed requirements.
Each curator or curatoress may provide care services to up to three children at the same time, with the consent of the parents, receiving up to €1,500 per month through an employer’s stamp.
The financial support for families amounts to €500 per month for parents who work full-time or are self-employed or self-employed, and €300 per month for parents who work part-time or on a rotating basis, and for mothers who are students, students or registered unemployed. To participate in the scheme, the mother’s annual personal income must not exceed €24,000 for one child and €27,000 for two children, while no income criteria apply for families with three or more children.
Special attention is paid to the safety of children, as registration in the Register requires, among other things, a clean criminal record, necessary health certificates and a first aid certificate for infants and children. For those who do not have a relevant certificate, free training is provided through the Emergency Medical Services and the Hellenic Red Cross, while for those who do not have a relevant degree, a three-hour online training is provided through the howto.gov.gr platform.
For her part, Deputy Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, Elena Rapti, said that “the great response to the platform confirms that the programme is embraced by society. We are continuing consistently, so that every child is cared for safely and every family feels that the state is by their side in practice.”
Applications for registration in the Register of Trustees are submitted electronically through the ntantades.gov.gr platform using TaxisNet codes.
