A shocking incident occurred Saturday night in New Philadelphia when a 17-year-old student who is on the autism spectrum was attacked by a 25-year-old.
More specifically, the 17-year-old special education student suffered a fractured jaw from the attack by the 25-year-old in New Philadelphia and is set to undergo surgery.
The incident took place at Patriarch Constantine Square in New Philadelphia, where the 17-year-old was with his two sisters, aged 20 and 23, to attend a concert as part of a local festival.
Due to the large crowd, one of the 17-year-old’s sisters allegedly accidentally nudged the 20-year-old offender’s partner, who reacted strongly.
According to reports, the 20-year-old started shouting and then attacked one of the 17-year-old’s sisters. The 25-year-old intervened in the incident, who first punched the girl and then attacked the minor with punches, causing serious injuries to his face.
The 17-year-old, who is on the autism spectrum, was allegedly frightened by the incident between the two girls and began shouting and the attack by the 25-year-old began.
After the incident, the pair left the scene, threatening and swearing at all the people watching the attack in shock.
The authorities moved immediately and tracked down the 25-year-old and the 20-year-old in less than 24 hours, with the couple admitting their actions and being taken to the Athens Prosecutor’s Office.
A case was filed against them for dangerous bodily harm to a weak person, while the 25-year-old is a martial arts expert, which is evident in the ferocity of the attack on the 17-year-old.
