Trouble reigned Saturday morning in St. Demetrius when a man raised the alarm by shooting into the air from his residence.

The incident occurred at around 06:40, on Nikiforos Mandilara Street, where a 30-year-old man, of Georgian origin and under the influence of alcohol, allegedly engaged in an unnecessary shooting from the ground floor apartment where he was staying.

Residents immediately alerted the police, with forces from the National Police arriving at the scene and arresting the man.

During a subsequent search of his home, authorities located and seized 57 cartridges, a Taser device and a pocketknife.

A case has been filed against him and he is expected to be brought to justice.
