The case of abuse of a five-year-old child in a kindergarten in Alexandroupolis has been brought back to the forefront with the hearing of the case, causing intense emotion. Two children of the same age as the child are reported to be involved, while a total of six defendants are on the stand: the parents of the children, as well as two kindergarten teachers.
The testimony of the father was particularly charged, who described the moment when his son confided in him about what happened, expressing fear about whether he would continue to love him. According to him, the child repeated the same in front of doctors and nurses, and expressed his disappointment at the attitude of the school, referring to a difficult period that continues to this day for the family.
The case dates back to September 2024, when parents reported that their child was abused on school grounds. The child had given a statement to authorities and had undergone a forensic examination. However, according to the family’s side, the psychologist who had been assigned to monitor him discontinued cooperation, citing difficulty in communication.
The family’s lawyer argued that the child did not receive the necessary support, noting that he is still battling the effects of the trauma. As the father said, not only the child himself but also his siblings were affected, with the family trying to manage the situation on a daily basis.
The charges that have been filed include neglect of juvenile supervision for the parents of the other children and child endangerment for the kindergarten teachers, who deny responsibility. At the same time, an investigation has been initiated into the teachers.
The trial is being held in camera and is expected to resume on June 24, and additional testimony has been requested from the child.
