The local community of Syros remains shocked following a fatal road accident that occurred on Saturday afternoon, May 2, in Ermoupolis, involving a 25-year-old motorcycle driver.
According to initial information, the accident was caused by a collision between a large capacity motorcycle and a passenger car. The incident occurred on Georgiou Papandreou Street, near the Syros General Hospital and at the location of the Catholic Bishopric.
The young man was seriously injured and was immediately taken by ambulance to the island’s hospital. Despite doctors’ efforts to keep him alive, he succumbed to his injuries shortly afterwards.
The circumstances under which the accident occurred are still under investigation and no further details have been given so far.
