Akylas has been in Vienna since yesterday, ready to represent Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, carrying with him the positive energy of the whole country.
As the contest draws nearer, today at 13:45 he is set to take to the stage for the first time for his rehearsal.
His sister, Eleni Kalanidou – Akritidou, spoke to the show “Weekend with Manesis” and stressed how important this moment is for him: she explained that it was a dream he had been chasing for about seven years, constantly working to evolve. As he said, Akilas feels grateful and sees this opportunity as a “gift from God.”
Despite the stress of the days, he tries to stay focused and do his best. He is, as he describes him, highly sociable and energetic from a young age, always eager to participate in performances and artistic activities.
His big influence has been Lady Gaga, whose songs he listened to as a child, and he had posters of her in his room.
He followed Eurovision from a young age and vividly remembers Elena Paparizou’s win, a moment that seems to have further strengthened his dream of one day being on the stage of the contest.
His family is very proud of his career and is by his side, supporting him at this important moment in his career.
