Next week the notice for 1.000 permanent positions for doctors in hospitals in Attica and the region. The positions cover all medical specialties. As Deputy Minister of Health Marios Themistocleous said, speaking to the radio station “REAL FM 97.8”, the notice will remain open for 15 days, while the appointment of doctors in hospitals is expected to be completed within the next 4 to 6 months. He said that these are permanent positions to further strengthen the National Health System and meet needs across the country.

The Deputy Minister of Health stressed that the National Health System currently has the most staff it has ever had. He said “the NHS currently has the most doctors, the most nurses and the most other staff, such as technologists, paramedics and other specialties needed to run hospitals

He said that “within the year 5.000 permanent hires and an additional 3,000 adjunct hires,” noting that the “net gain” for the system would be about 3,000 more staff than in previous years, taking into account retirements and retirements.

With regard to the issue of ramps, the Deputy Minister said that the problem has been addressed in almost all hospitals in the country, with the exception of Attica Hospital in particular. “In Attica there are still three hospitals that may have cots for some hours, but the picture has changed significantly,” he said, indicating that in Evaggelism, where previously there were always cots and the situation was similar to that of Attica, today there are no cots. For Attiko, the Deputy Minister noted: “There is a concrete plan to deal with it. The problem will be solved with the completion of the new building currently under construction, as 50 beds currently used by doctors for accommodation will be released. The plan is expected to pay off within about 12 months from today.”
