Continuing migrant flows in the south of Crete, where a rescue operation was set up in the early hours of the morning for a total of 43 foreigners found to be on board a dinghy. The 43 people in the boat, and more specifically 30 nm south of Kales Limeni, were spotted by a Frontex drone.
A rescue operation was immediately set up and the foreigners were retrieved and transported to the port of Kales Limenoi by a Frontex vessel and an adjacent cargo ship flying the Liberian flag.
According to the Coast Guard, the 43 people are expected to be transferred to a temporary residence in Heraklion.
