The shock has been caused in the local community by the homicide case under investigation in Kalamata, where a 42-year-old man was found dead.

The victim suffered a head wound from a firearm, most likely a shotgun, and so far neither the murder weapon nor the perpetrator has been identified.

According to reports, the man of Albanian origin was found dead in a rural area of West Beach, in the district of Bournias, between pens and stables.

The authorities are examining all possibilities, including the scenario that the victim was working in the area and was the victim of a criminal act either by an employer or another worker.

According to the same sources, the site is owned by an elderly owner and managed by a relative. The victim was reportedly spotted by a couple who were temporarily hosting him, who immediately alerted the authorities.

strong police forces have cordoned off the area and proceeded to collect evidence, while video footage from nearby businesses is also being examined in order to map movements before the crime.

The area is characterised by sparse building density and includes farmland, stables and small businesses, making the work of investigators difficult.

Three people have so far been summoned to give statements, while the police investigation is in full swing to identify the perpetrator and the weapon.
