An unusual incident involving a 5-year-old boy caused the mobilization of the authorities this morning and upset residents on Vasileos Georgiou Avenue in Thessaloniki. The minor, who was alone in the 6th floor apartment, went out on the balcony, from where he was throwing various objects on the pavement for almost an hour, such as stones, a vacuum cleaner, a bucket with a mop, a deck of cards, board games, etc.
Police officers were called to the scene and were able to gain access to the apartment from an adjacent residence, as the front door was locked. By approaching the child they managed to stop his “action”, which – however – did not result in any injuries. When his mother returned home she was taken to the police station and eventually arrested for child endangerment.
A prosecutor’s order assigned the boy to the temporary custody of a friend until the criminal proceedings initiated against the mother are completed.
