Two juveniles, aged 16 and 17, had managed to cause a major disturbance in the southern suburbs by carrying out robberies at kiosks, petrol stations and small shops. In their hands they held a pistol – which turned out to be a fake – and a large knife, with which they intimidated their victims.

Visual footage captured one of their attacks when they arrived by motorcycle at a kiosk on Alimos Avenue. One got off, pulled out a gun and demanded the proceeds, while his accomplice remained on the motorcycle, watching the area and urging him to move quickly.

As described by a worker, the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, with the offenders grabbing cash and also goods before fleeing. Similar attacks had been recorded in other areas, such as Argyroupoli and Ilioupoli, where the same men allegedly used the same means to extort money.

In one case in Ilioupoli, the situation got out of hand when an employee tried to fight back, resulting in her arm being injured by one of the perpetrators, who was holding a sharp object. The incident left employees in the area intensely fearful, who have since declared themselves more cautious.

The action by the two juveniles ended about a week ago when SWAT officers spotted them and chased them on foot. During the arrest, the 17-year-old reacted violently, injuring a police officer, who was taken to 401 Military Hospital for treatment.

According to authorities, the youths were using a stolen motorcycle and fully covered their features with helmets and hoods so they could not be identified. In subsequent searches of their homes, knives, tools and a plastic gun were found, confirming that the handgun used in the attacks was not real.

At the same time, their parents were also arrested as they were charged with neglect of supervision of minors.
