The deadline for applications to the Public Employment Service’s 2026-2027 Social Tourism Program has been extended due to increased interest from workers and the unemployed. Applications can now be submitted until Wednesday, April 29 at 11:59 p.m., regardless of Social Security number.

The program starts earlier this year, on May 18, 2026, and will run for a total of 13 months. It provides for 300,000 holiday vouchers, with a total budget of €50 million.

Particularly favourable are the benefits for specific regions. On the islands of Leros, Lesvos, Chios, Kos, Samos and Rhodes, beneficiaries can enjoy up to 10 nights’ accommodation without any private contribution. Similarly, in regions such as North Evia, Evros and Thessaly (except Sporades), up to 12 nights are offered free of charge.

The subsidy is increased by 20% during periods of high demand, such as August, as well as during the Christmas and Easter holiday periods. For the affected areas of Northern Evia, Evros and Thessaly (except Sporades), the increased subsidy is valid throughout the year.

The beneficiaries of the scheme are private sector employees with a dependent employment relationship, insured in the e-EFKA with unemployment contributions, as well as unemployed persons registered in the relevant register for at least three months. At the same time, specific income criteria apply, which vary according to family status.

Applications are submitted online via the gov.gr platform, in the section on employment, insurance and social tourism programmes.

The programme involves tourist accommodation and ferry companies, with applications from providers due by 10 May. Those who participated in the previous year are automatically included in the register, provided they update the necessary information.
