The growing awareness of Samos is confirmed through recent publications in authoritative German online media, which highlight the authentic character and multi-dimensional experience of the destination within the travel appeal of the Municipality of Western Samos.
The German tourism website Reisereporter, read by millions of professionals and travellers, ranks Samos among the “hidden treasures” of Greece, noting that the island is one of the rare cases of international destinations for true travel moments untainted by the phenomena of over-tourism. The German website Greece Moments, which specialises in holidays in Greece, also broadcasts on the same “wavelength”. In addition, the Potami area stands out as an emblematic point of natural beauty, ideal for alternative activities and Mount Kerkis is an essential addition as one of the most important mountain ranges of the Aegean with various possibilities for hiking, climbing and rejuvenation, enhancing the multi-thematic character of the destination.

In an international environment characterized by uncertainty and changing conditions, the continuous promotion of the multiple aspects of our place is not an option but a necessity. Samos has the raw materials to establish itself as a modern, sustainable and attractive destination for visitors from all over the world,” said the Deputy Mayor of Tourism of the Municipality of Western Samos, Vangelis Marnezos.
The growing interest of international markets in Samos was confirmed through numerous scheduled meetings of the Municipality of Western Samos at the international tourism exhibition ITB Berlin 2026, where the two Municipalities of the island of Pythagoras participated in an organised manner with a single modern pavilion of their own. The contacts with senior executives of reputable institutions and tourism organizations, as well as popular bloggers and journalists of leading media from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Scandinavia and Great Britain were constructive. Particularly extensive was the meeting with a representative of the German airlines, Lufthansa and Discover, during which the prospects of extending the tourist season through the expansion of the flight schedule to Samos were discussed, as well as the possibility of adding direct flights from additional areas of Germany.
